  • What does your organization do?

Front Steps supports working with individuals experiencing homelessness. We work with clients toward a safe place to call home and self-sufficiency. I joined Front Steps on February 1, 2021. I previously served as an Executive Director for programs serving Girls aged 6-18 years old.
  • How did you become interested in this work?

I have for as many years as I can remember been involved in supporting either as a volunteer or via vocation the underserviced communities/populations in various capacities from entry to executive level.
  • What drives your passion?

My passion is driving by those which have supported, encouraged, pushed and corrected me. Their support and the understanding of coming together will result in positive outcomes. This made me realize your passion should be my vocation.
  • Do you have a mentor or a role model?

Yes, I have and have had many mentors and role models. In addition to my family, I was able to connect with many who saw ability and potential in me I didn't realize was present. I am beyond fortunate I have had/have many sources of encouragement, the listening ears and wise council before I made decisions. I think about times when I was about to rush to make a decision, was told to slow down and the outcome worked out in ways it likely would not have if I made a rash decision.
  • What's the biggest challenge in your work?

The polarized nature of homelessness and the many myths, too. In many cases individuals experiencing homelessness would welcome a safe place to call home and other resources - it isn't always as easy as it seems.
  • What's the best advice that you have ever received?

When making decisions remember you are human and may not always get it right. When things don't go right or as planned, accept responsibility, plan to do better and do better - don't be so hard on yourself. Act with charter, positive intent, and complete integrity at all times.
  • What are your top tips for new Executive Directors?

    Listen, Learn, and Lead.
